Additional photos of completion 4-15-2011

Reviewing the blogs I discovered a few more photos to add to the collection here. The over all wall measures 81' long. The front is 21' tall and the rear is 14' tall. This is the largest mural thus far. The oval behind me measures 16' in length and 8' in height. A scene of the downtown as it would have been in the 40's. This day was a treat for me being able to bring my Mom to see it for the first time.
This is Mom checking out how I hid the electrical going into the building. Again....I don't recommend any one to do this. I like having Mom here in this shot because it shows the scale of the piece.

Berry Alabama-Heritage Mural

The mural was completed on 5/5/2010. It was completed in 24 working days and took over 300 hours. It was a true joy getting to know the community. I loved all the stories that where shared. The City leaders and the Women's Club where more that helpful with the project and I look forward to working with them again.

The addition of the cotton field was done to pay tribute to the areas agriculture. The cotton field has a young girl and boy pulling the long cotton sacks.

A 40's model Coupe was added going down Memory lane.

The perspective of the main street starts with the Yellow Front store. The carried drug store items and apparel . Lundgford's barber shop, Mrs Ruths dress shop, Griffin's Drug store, and the post office. The scene is from the 40's when the main drag was hopping.

For the third oval in the design I incorporated a large tree to hold the scene. This symbolizes the growth of the town by its industries. The tree also served as a means to hide the electrical going into the building.

A tribute was done to the water tank. It was dismantled 3-4 years ago. It was a beloved marker for the people of Berry.

Blocking in the Water tank. Masking the Electrical service entry.

The 6' doorway is hidden withing the store scene.

Day 14- blocking in sky and the Theron Cannon Building. The Theron Cannon Store was est in 1900's and was know to have everything from cradle to Coffin.

Detail of Logging scene.

Progression photo - First week of painting.

Detail of the miners

The founding industries of Berry are Mining and Logging. The design features the two industries by a 32' pick ax and a huge log projected across the ax. The vignette of the miners and logger are within the end s of the ax and log.

The first few days where spent gathering paint and scaling off the large 21' x 81 ' wall.

3/31/2010- Set up scaffold with the assistance of my hubby.

The Berry Mural was sposored by the Berry Woman's Club. Debbie Deavors notified me in January that the mural was a go. Planning proceeded and the design was approved 3/16.
